Let’s not forget that the President hails from a small province and his selective lynching has already creating rifts and his forcible removal before time will further alienate the province. Moreover, PPP is the only electable liberal party and at this time when we are reeling under the forces of extremism, is frankly the best bet despite some mistakes . The ideological orientation of the party combined with its sway over masses gives us a better chance to prevent Pakistan from becoming a strange theocratic state. Moreover, for all those who are always dying to vilify Zardari, let’s at least give him his due credit. Zardari led government has tried to reach out to all the ethnicities and has successfully brokered an improved NFC award. Likewise, he has transferred the presidential powers through 18th amendment to the prime minister, a thing virtually unheard of in the past.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

Continue to support corrupt people (army, business, politician, religion) (and keep lieing ang denying about corruption) all over the universe. I always thought the secret to progress was a secular education system that teaches independant thought. Then voters can push past tribal bias and find true power at the ballot box.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

Revolution sometimes work, sometimes backfire. In the case of Russia and China, one corrupt system was replaced with another equally corrupt (and brutal) system. In the case of US, France, it worked. Since corruption in endemic in countries like Pakistan and India, I doubt if a revolution led by few or many is going to change anything. One corrput government will be replaced by another corrupt govt or even worse. The souluion is not simple. But the country needs to supress lawlessness and terrorism first, second development, and then more investment could come in. Many Pakistani's are smart and educated and many countries would want to do business there like in India and China. It is still complicated and difficult to do business in India and China is a totalitarian state and many are afriad of an implosion, even if it is a remote possibility. This makes Pakistan an attractive place to do business, if it can quell the lawlessness and terrorism

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

The solution for the Govt. is to send mr zardari to retirement!

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

Just a comment on role of Supreme Court, Supreme Court is playing a role which it has never played before , taking notice of the corruption by Government ; Zardari and co. Although its good , but in pursuing this role Supreme Court of Pakistan should not forget their prime role-to provide fast and fair JUSTICE to man in the street.

Judiciary at lower level courts is unable to handle their new found power, bribery, corruption , favoritism , delayed decisions, fake cases , holding of property beyond means is so rampant in the courts at lower level , including high courts that good actions of supreme court seems to be overshadowed for a person who is suffering in session or civil judge's court to get justice. There are numerous instances in which people have sold their whole properties just to pay the fees of lawyers and are still waiting for justice, as is said "Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied".

Last but not the least, the nation's media should objectively report on these corruptions. Its understood that they are also facing judicial cases for their irresponsible or in some cases prejudiced reporting but this should not stop them from reporting the truth. Just like Judiciary, notwithstanding corruption in journalism there are really professional and responsible channels, anchor persons and journalist too.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

Pakistan needs an honest,God fearing, educated young leader, with eyes on the future,

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

Please Pakistanis, if Musharraf forms a party, do not vote for him. The media personnel have gone ecstatic over the current political climate in the country. Each and every single day they sit in their kiosks and start bullying the helpless politicians with their sarcastic remarks. They are the champions of democracy, yet they are the ones trying their utmost to bring about the failure of the government at all costs. They should realise their responsibilities and step back from their role of kingmakers. Please back off and send some positive messages.

I have no connection with the PPP; I am a simple and humble citizen who feels threatened that his fellow citizens are in despair due to the media mafia.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

No leader, government elect or individual with power should be immune from prosecution if found guilty.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

Pakistan need a revolutionary change and not an aritificial, each party's leader's been tested more than once. They dont have any positive attitude to countries politics. They dont see the face and attitude and background of a person they are giving their support. The party also supported to the person who has a criminal ground of killing of Mir and others and money laundering.

If you see his family background you can see how much money they earn from laundering.Even Nawaz Sharif is also a thief. If you see his three decade history. Islam is the identity of Pakistan whereas India never existed as a country in history. Fanatic Indians always regret partition and have been waging wars on Pakistan to absorb it back against the wishes of its people just like they are doing in Kashmir. Pakistan has to counter india for its existence. People of the subcontinent are paying the price of the hegemonic ambitions of Indian weapons pile up.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

there is no simple solution to pakistan's problems, so diverse a country. but at the moment, we should resort to solving our overriding problems first. We should strive to bring a government that believes in delivering good governance, that believes in being answerable every day rather than mocking every criticism by just saying, "we were voted here, if people dont like us, they will vote us out", that is a mockery of democracy.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

revolution!! until these corrupt leaders go away, nothings going to happen. and please not a "military" revolution. They all play musical chairs and their members are bought and sold for ministry and money. They switch parties and make alliances based upon their personal interests. They both make dissident groups, rename it not for any real stand but for personal gains or money. Supreme court has never got such a chance in the history to fix the country and implement its order through military if they are defied. Pakistan intelligence agencies has list of all corrupt and traitor politicians which they should use in the court to try them and ban them for the rest of their lives. They both can come up with a list of honest and educated poeple from all walks of life including good and patriotic politicians and put them for election. Army should not rule it but help the country. For the moment, Pakistan needs an interim government based upon clean people not any of the existing political parties.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

He has wished failure of Pakistan Gov for over 2 decades now, our new aspiring Air Marshal (retd) Asghar Khan

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

pakistan seems to suffer right from beginning from its inability to create institutions which lay the solid foundation for the smooth functioning of any Govt irrespect of ideologies. The reason for its inability to create dependable institutions is that right from 1947 it has not produced any leader with vision and integrity.Pakistan has been always content to exist merely as a counterweight to India rather than creating its own distinct identity in the comity of nations. This reflects parochial thinking;unsuitable for nation-building.The people of Pakistan pay the price for this parochial thinking.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

As in my previous comments which were never published, I stated clearly we need a revolution, to have a clean start for the country and for nation. We had enough of these corrupt leaders who come to power with personal mandate other than the country and its nation. Who sacrifice nations dignity and hounour for gains in foreign bank accounts. I wont be surprised if Flood appeal funds end up in their SWISS OR SAUDI ACCOUNTS. Mr 10% and Nawaz Sharif, PML-N are far most corrupt leaders in Pakistan. Being a 3rd world country leader their have millions of dollars accounts and assets overseas. How bizarre is that where a ordinary Pakistani is suffering on a daily basis to meet their ends. These leaders should be brought to justice and punished in public so that it will be a lesson for future leaders if they decide to play with nation and Pakistan.

Re: Pakistan government to fall?

The hypocricy of Nawaz Shareef is obvious in the whole process.
