The army is making a critical mistake by following the illusion of winning the lion hearted pakhtoons with power. They are conquered with love and friendship and never with bullets and bombs. Russia killed more than 2 Millions in afghanistan but faced the ultimate defeat. USA has been battling the freedom loving pakhtoons for last 8 years and giving them the brand of "Taliban" just to legitimise their brutal killings. But they are facing the same fate. October 09 proved to be the deadliest for them. Now what to say of Pakistanin Army, which only nodes to the orders from their masters in USA? I myself am a pakhtoon. I never believe this blast in peshawar was the work of taliban or Alqaeda. Never in the history they did this. This is the work of either pakistani agencies or "Xe" or "CIA". What is "Xe" doing in university town peshawar? Only these beasts can kill innocent people in markets and universities. As they proved it in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our myopic leaders and generals amazingly forgot the fall of east Pakistan so soon. Ask the bengalis and they will narrate you the same stories as Pakhtoons in Swat and Waziristan are narrating today.

I am afraid, Pakistan is going to be doomed if our "Brave" army continued to repeat the same historical mistakes.

Pakistani army were defeated several times before. I don't understand why they believe that they can do anything different this time. It amazed me how much the PAK government trying to make the western leader happy.

I think this all about getting huge amount of aid($) from US and it's allies.

Pakistan is on a wrong course for sure , military action is not the answer to the issue , negotiations have went in vain since they were meant to go that way , why was the army sent to the tribal areas in the first place ? waziristan has been present since the inception of pakistan , there are many PASHTUNS fighting the army NOT the Taliban , many pashtuns whose family members have been killed in the worthless drone attacks . Pakistan will win this WAR by NOT fighting the war itself , since the war belongs to the US and we are clearing the mess and as such have sent our own soldiers to kill our citizens.

Every single bullet and killing of pashthoons are the signs of ever quicker demise of week pakistan, which are the agenda of the western countries and India and Russia alike, and the incompetent pakistani so called leaders which are more loyal to CIA and RAW than anything else are making it easy for them.

Pakistan has been on a wrong course for a long time and has been fighting a war.It has no internal cohesion and has lost all sense of direction It has the American noose round its neck. Pakistan is on its way to hanging itself with the American rope. The foolish, self-serving and short-sighted Pakistani military and political leaders opted for this destiny of Pakistan on behalf of the people of Pakistan.

A key question to ask for any Pakistani is would it have not been better for Pakistan NOT to participate in the war on terror - the result of this would have been a showdown with the US and its Allies. Would Pakistani soldiers rather die killing their own people or defending their country from invaders.

Surely it is going to be tough battle due to strategical location and the terrain of Waziristan. However Pakistan army is left with no option other than to win this war. The same time military power is not the solo solution since winning the heart of the local tribes men are equally more important.

This time the army is commanded by a General who does not claim the uniform is a second skin and his survival depends on NRO or Cheney's goodwill? General Kayani has done his homework and the only obstacle he faces is the attitude of the
ISAF across from Waziristan in Afghanistan. Can General McCrystal put pressure
on President Karzai to stop India's RAW from helping the militants and tell the ISAF
to seal the borders across from North and South Waziristan. Leaving no escape or
replenishment route the Army should be able to take complete control before Xmas.

I am an American, and I don't trust my government. For anyone that thinks that The United States is going to help you or protect you; you are wrong. They will not even protect their own people from disease and injury. Pakistan, do what you think is right. Don't listen to the US. We will only leave you defeated and broke.

Most of the comments have been rightly said. I never heard of any attack on Pakistan Army within Pakistan before the army went on adventure against the Pakhtoons. The tribesmen were fighting only against the American invaders, which the very Pakistan Army allowed the space and logistics to enter Afganistan.

Pakistan used these tribesmen against India in 1948 to liberate Kashmir. How can they expect them to stop resisting the US occupation of their land. There is no geographical boundaries for tribesmen as far as Afghanistan is concerned. The same tribe lives accross the border and many tribesmen have relatives accross the border.

Pakistan is fighting this war only on behest of America. In my opinion it is late but there is still a beacon of hope of clearing this mess by rendering a general appology to the tribesmen, whose homes have been destroyed and whose relatives have been killed relentlessly. Or else they will continue their fight to the end till they take their revenge and drive out all the forces out of their land, be it Pakistani or the U.S.

They know their way to take REVENGE. The concept that runs deep in their blood.
